Month: November 2017

VRT 77 brings in the festive season through a cake mixing ceremony at the Park Hotel on the 27th of November 2017

Cake mixing is a traditional process of preparation of ingredients which are later used for cake making but no cake is mixed or made on this day .

A cake mixing ceremony dates back to the 17th century . The preparations  begin months in advance . The first step towards making the cake is the mixing process , formally called the ‘Cake Mixing ceremony ‘, a ritual religiously followed the world over and said to be a harbinger of good tidings and happiness .

Close to 200 kilos of assorted dry fruits were mixed with cinnamons , nutmeg and generous amounts of liquor and stored in a container until the festive season . This marinated assortment of dry fruits will be incorporated when baking plum cakes and puddings . The longer the mix is kept for , the tastier will be the cake , said one of the chefs of the hotel .

It is basically to bring in the festive mood and make merry . People who get these cakes are in for a pleasant surprise too .

This was an exclusive event for the ladies and twinklers . It was an excellent HRD\LAPD session on cake mixing with active participation from the ladies and twinklers . Another fun day of learning for VRT 77 .

Biriyani fellowship at 7 biriyanis at VRT 77

The word Biryani is derived from the Persian word Birian, which means ‘fried before cooking’ and Birinj, the Persian word for rice. There are various theories related to the origin of this scrumptious dish. Many historians believe that biryani originatedfrom Persia and was brought to India by the Mughals.

There are many places which serve this popular dish . Some Biryanis are famous because of the way it is prepared and also because it can be made less spicy yet there are other varieties of biriyani that are famous because it is spicy .

On Sunday afternoon , VRT 77 had a fellowship at a fairly new restaurant called 7 biriyanis which is famous for serving seven different varieties of Biriyani :

Raju gari Kodu Biriyani

Kabuli Channa Biriyani

Double Anda Biriyani

Ulavucharu Kodi Biriyani

Rajamundry Ajanta Biriyani

Mirchi Kodi Kebab biryani

Pudhina Mirchi Veg Biryani

Is your mouth watering already … It should be .. Mine was watering while typing the list of Biriyanis down  (haha ) ..

It would have been impossible to order all the biriyanis and finish them . We would need a couple of  more sittings for that .

So , we ordered just about 3 biryani’s . We had the 7 B special chicken biryani  , the Ullavucharu kodi biryani and the egg biriyani .  It was nice and spicy just like how we liked it . We relished every bit of it  and we were quite stuffed after our meal . All in all . we ate to our heart’s content .

The “Curious one” and “The Brewsky” get “Rascalled” by VRT 77

Rascal fellowship s are a  trademark of VRT 77 .  We had a DOUBLE “Rascal” fellowship on Sunday 12th November 2017 at Brew and Bistro . It was Tr . Dushyanth and Tr. Siddhart’s birthday . It was a milestone birthday for them so we had to celebrate .

The “R” in our “RAP” team (fellowship team ) had planned and organized everything .  He sent out a message informing us of the plan of where to meet and at what time and now it was up to the ladies of the birthday boys to figure out how they were going to get them out of the house without them finding out .

All the Tablers , ladies and twinklers reached the venue by around 12:30 – 1 PM and while we were all chatting , we waited for the birthday boys with their ladies . There was a lot of waiting time and we were wondering if the surprise would be on us instead of them . I guess it took a little  more effort to get them to venue  . They eventually came blind folded and they were pleasantly surprised to see all of us at the venue .

Surprise accomplished and job well done !!! .

Then , we had a cake cutting for both of them  . Tr. Siddhart’s cake was in the shape of beer mug because he is called  Brewsky  by  our table  .

Tr. Dushyant’s cake had  a ? on it (Why ??) exactly because he is “The curious one “.

After the cake cutting , the lunch fellowship went on till late in the afternoon . Everyone were really hungry , we ordered quite a lot and didn’t spare a single dish . We ate to our heart’s content . A Sunday  afternoon . well spent !!!
